I was invited to give a training open to the entire Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and their law enforcement counterparts, held at the Los Angeles Police Department Headquarters in DTLA.
This time, the talk was for their Saturday Seminar training series and, as stated above, it was open to the entire DA’s office (instead of a single unit). The LA DA’s office is the largest district attorney’s office in the country.
I presented on basic memory science and how it relates to the eyewitness domain. From what I could tell, it was received well. The questions asked during the break came from a point of curiosity, demonstrated an understanding of the content, and showed a deep level of contemplation about how well current practices meshed with the most recent scientific recommendations (Wells et al., 2020; Wixted et al., 2021; Lindsay et al., 2025). I’m glad that people found the presentation informative. Making science accessible to the fields who could benefit from it is important to me.
Pictured at the top is me at the front of the Los Angeles Police Department Headquarters (where the talk occurred). Pictured to the above-left is the official LA District Attorney Commendation certificate that was issued to me a couple weeks after the training day.
Thank you to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office for their time and for their engagement with the content.
